The drawer problem
Every Italian family has one: a drawer full of documents. Tax returns, medical records, insurance policies, utility contracts, school certificates, car registrations. Paper piling up, deadlines missed, documents lost when they are needed most.
Digital alternatives exist, but they are either generic file storage (Dropbox, Google Drive) with no document intelligence, or enterprise solutions designed for businesses, not families.
Families need something different: simple scanning, automatic categorization, deadline reminders, controlled sharing, and an honest account of how files are protected on each platform.
A private family archive
FOLDRY turns a phone into a document scanner and a connected account into a family archive. The mobile app encrypts document files client-side with AES-GCM before upload. The web app currently uses encrypted transport and provider-managed encryption at rest; web client-side encryption is not active yet.
Intelligent categorization recognizes document types automatically. Deadline tracking sends reminders before insurance renewals, tax deadlines, and document expirations. Family sharing lets you grant access to specific folders with role-based permissions.

Architecture
FOLDRY is a mobile-first platform with offline capabilities. The Flutter app handles document scanning via Google ML Kit v2 and stores data locally with Drift for offline access.
The FastAPI backend on Cloud Run manages document processing, AI-powered categorization via Claude Sonnet, and async jobs through Cloud Tasks and Cloud Scheduler.
Metadata lives in PostgreSQL via Supabase and files in Google Cloud Storage. Mobile uploads use client-side AES-GCM encryption; web uploads currently rely on TLS and server-side storage encryption. RevenueCat and Stripe manage subscriptions.
